Explosives Regulatory Division
The Explosives Regulatory Division (ERD) of Natural Resources Canada is responsible for admininstering Canada's Explosives Act and Regulations. As a part of that administration, they provide courses for aspiring display fireworks handlers or pyrotechnicians.
Display Fireworks Course
This one day course is a companion to the Display Fireworks Manual and
serves to promote the safe use of display fireworks at outdoor fireworks
displays. This course also serves as a reference source for enforcement and
fire prevention personnel who make up the Authority Having Jurisdiction.
No person can engage in any type of Display Fireworks activities
without having submitted an application for and having obtained a Firework
Supervisors Certificate Level 1 or 2. Successful completion of this course
will provide applicants with Level 1 Certification.
Unless otherwise stated, all courses begin at 8:30 am and finish at
approximately 4:00 pm. It includes a live firing of display fireworks.
Pyrotechnics Special Effects Course
Unless otherwise stated, all courses begin at 8:30 am and finish at approximately 4:00 pm. It includes a 3 hour demonstration and live firing of close proximity special effects.
